Welcome to MindLight Academy!

Now accepting students for June & September 2025!


MindLight Academy is an online 10-month didactic and clinical program in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. Once completed, students will be adept in the foundational knowledge and clinical components of IONM.


MindLight Academy is an approved ABRET® Recognized Program.

What is Intraoperative Neuromonitoring?

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) describes a group of procedures used during surgery to monitor neural pathways during high-risk neurosurgical, orthopedic, peripheral nerve, and vascular surgeries. These procedures assist surgeons in preventing damage and preserving the functionality of the nervous system.

What does an Intraoperative Neuromonitoring professional do?

An Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) professional is responsible for monitoring a patient's nervous system during surgery to ensure the integrity and functionality of critical neural structures. Their role is crucial in various surgeries, particularly those involving the brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nerves, to prevent potential neurological complications.

We are committed to equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to improve patient care and contribute to the global well-being.

2025 Program Start Dates:

  • February 2025
  • June 2025
  • September 2025

International Opportunities

One of the standout features of our program is the opportunity to gain clinical experience at partner sites around the world. Through our network of esteemed clinical partners, you will have a change to participate in surgical cases where intraoperative neuromonitoring is being utilized. This will provide you with diverse exposure to a variety of surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal patient outcomes.

IONM Training Program Description

Phase 1 - 12 weeks

IOM 101-Introduction to Clinical Neurodiagnostics

IOM 102-Anatomy and Physiology

IOM 201-Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Modalities I

IOM 600-Clinical Practicum (students will begin 2-day per week clinical attendance at week 7 after attending the in-person clinical workshop)


Phase 2 - 12 weeks

IOM 301-Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Modalities II

IOM 401-Advanced IONM Modalities

IOM 600-Clinical Practicum


Phase 3 - 14 weeks

IOM 501-CNIM Prep and IONM Procedures

IOM 600-Clinical Practicum

The final six weeks of the program will only consist of IOM 600


All students must attend one in-person clinical workshop hosted by MindLight Academy.

Program Eligibility

Applicants should have a minimum of an associate degree, however, a bachelor's degree is preferred. Your degree may be in any field of study, however, health science is preferred. 

Applicants holding a current neurodiagnostic credential will also be considered.

All applicants must complete the following:

  1. Application and fee
  2. Copy of diploma and/or neurodiagnostic certification
  3. Letter of recommendation
  4. Zoom interview

Total tuition costs: $17,990

  • Books/study material (~$350)
  • Clinical workshop travel expenses
  • Application fee ($30)
  • Non-refundable deposit upon acceptance to the program ($300)
